Merton Park

Welcome to Met Engage,

We're transforming the Met to become a service that truly delivers for you.

Through our new platform Met Engage you can get to know your local officers, help shape how we police your local area and have direct access to key information and advice.

This isn't just a platform for us to tell you what we're doing in your area, it's an opportunity for you to tell us what's concerning you most so we can take action on the things that truly matter to you.

Merton Park Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

To contact to your team about local policing issues, email us at MertonPark@contact.metengage.co.uk or pick an officer to email below. (Please do not use this contact method to report crime, in an emergency always call 999 or you can report crime online at www.met.police.uk or dial 101).

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Priority Action taken

Theft and Violence related offences - Morden Town Centre

Issued 03 March 2026

Officers have been completing both visible and plain clothed patrols in Morden Town Centre, targeting theft and violent crime.

This work has lead to a decrease in theft offences.
SW BCU Policing area has the lowest robbery rate across London and the highest percentage of robberies solved across all of London.
A 43.5% reduction in retail theft over the last 5 months in Morden Town Centre (18.4% decrease year on year)

Shoplifting offences do continue to occur, as a team we will continue to run operations in the town centre, both ourselves and working with council teams on days of action to target theft offences
So far we have run two operations in the Morden area, leading to the arrests and charges of 6 offenders as well as other disposals such as on the spot fines or banning notices for other offenders not suitable for arrest

Burglary

Issued 03 March 2026

PCSO's have been completing re-assurance and crime prevention patrols to areas where there have been burglaries on the ward.

Local officers will conduct enquiries around offences, looking for any evidential leads such as CCTV and analysing offences to see if any linked series are occurring with a similar pattern.

We are also currently running an operation in the local area targeting burglary and motor vehicle crime, if you notice any suspicious behaviours please also report these to us so we can make the best use of our resources and focus on those looking to commit crime.

Anti-social behaviour in parks and open spaces

Issued 03 March 2026

ASB is an on-going local concern in parks and open spaces.
There has been a decrease in the number of reported incidents of such behaviours over the recent winter months, this often happens with colder and wetter weather, however as we move towards the spring this picture can change.

Local officers will continue to patrol parks and open spaces and combat criminality and Anti-social behaviour in those locations where present.
We will work in partnership with council ASB officers in affected areas to route out any identified concerns and identify those responsible, and use preventative legislation (via the early intervention scheme) to reduce anti-social behaviour.

Actioned 03 June 2026

The word cloud below represents the issues raised by residents through their Local Matters survey. We take this into consideration along with discussions with stakeholders, ward panel meetings and conversations with the public when setting our key priorities
