Green Lane & St James

Welcome to Met Engage,

We're transforming the Met to become a service that truly delivers for you.

Through our new platform Met Engage you can get to know your local officers, help shape how we police your local area and have direct access to key information and advice.

This isn't just a platform for us to tell you what we're doing in your area, it's an opportunity for you to tell us what's concerning you most so we can take action on the things that truly matter to you.

Green Lane & St James Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

To contact to your team about local policing issues, email us at GreenLane&StJames@contact.metengage.co.uk or pick an officer to email below. (Please do not use this contact method to report crime, in an emergency always call 999 or you can report crime online at www.met.police.uk or dial 101).

Local Priority Issues

Burglary

We visit every victim of burglary ensuring all lines of enquiry have been completed including forensic and CCTV opportunities.

We research our intelligence systems daily to proactively respond to crime trends and identify locations for high visibility and plain clothes patrols deterring and catching offenders. We promote the use of crime prevention through social media and the New Met Engage channel. A number of street briefings have taken place to offer residents crime prevention advice and we support Neighbourhood Watch Schemes providing timely information and alerts.

We work with other Police departments such as CID and the burglary team to help arrest anyone involved in burglary promptly and apply for the strictest bail conditions to be imposed on them while they move through the criminal justice system such as curfews or banning them from entering the borough.

Tackling drug dealing and drug use across the ward.

We conduct uniformed and plain clothes patrols in the areas drug users usually frequent.

We have carried out drug warrants at identified addresses, making arrests both for possession of drugs and on suspicion of supply offences. We have applied for increased temporary CCTV systems to be installed by Richmond Council to monitor areas of concern, and to deter offending in these areas.

We are working with the local authority and housing associations to obtain closure orders for addresses linked to this priority, and engaging with partners to ensure that all possible opportunities to reduce offending are identified.

We guide people to well-being and health support groups to try to stop them using the controlled drugs.

Motor Vehicle Crime

We research our intelligence systems daily to proactively respond to crime trends and identify locations for high visibility and plain clothes patrols deterring or catching offenders.

We promote the use of crime prevention through social media and engagement with owners of vehicles at highest risk. A number of street briefings have taken place to offer residents crime prevention advice as well as the introduction of the new Met Engage channel allowing officers to communicate information to residents.

We apply to courts to impose Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) on offenders which can last up to 5 years. They contains conditions such as not to enter any person’s driveway, not to touch any car without the owner’s permission. This gives the Police powers to stop the offenders before actually breaking in.
