South Croydon

Welcome to Met Engage,

We're transforming the Met to become a service that truly delivers for you.

Through our new platform Met Engage you can get to know your local officers, help shape how we police your local area and have direct access to key information and advice.

This isn't just a platform for us to tell you what we're doing in your area, it's an opportunity for you to tell us what's concerning you most so we can take action on the things that truly matter to you.

South Croydon Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

To contact to your team about local policing issues, email us at SouthCroydon@contact.metengage.co.uk or pick an officer to email below. (Please do not use this contact method to report crime, in an emergency always call 999 or you can report crime online at www.met.police.uk or dial 101).

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Priority Action taken

Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB): Tackling drug taking, squatting, begging and ASB in public spaces.

Issued 30 October 2025

High visibility patrols have been conducted in the affected area and CPN's have been issued to those who persistently drink within the area. This is the first stage of more stringent enforcement of the problem within the area.

Engagement with shop owners and residents has also been completed to offer reassurance and highlight police presence within the area.

As part of targeted late-night patrols to locate a male suspected of stealing windscreen wipers, South Croydon SNT and Park Hill & Whitgift SNT officers recorded several positive outcomes over the past weekend:

2 drink drivers arrested and charged
1 female found with Class A drugs – arrested and charged
3 individuals found with cannabis – issued Community Resolutions and a Penalty Notice for Disorder
1 male arrested – wanted in connection with over 49 theft offences at the Co-op on South End in Fairfield Ward
These results reflect the continued commitment to proactive policing and community safety across South Croydon and Park Hill & Whitgift wards.

Speeding and Vehicle offences - Our residents have told us that speeding is a problem within the side streets of the ward what run off the main roads.

Issued 30 October 2025

officers have completed speed gun operations over the past few months. This enforcement has brought noticeable improvement for the areas we have carried out these operations. Whilst we know that these improvements are likely short term we will re visit these operations over the coming months to look for more sustained improvement.

Burglary

Residential and commercial burglaries have a significant impact on victims and the wider community, causing emotional distress, financial loss, and a sense of insecurity. Recent incidents and community feedback indicate burglary remains a concern in the ward.

Issued 30 October 2025

Conduct regular high-visibility patrols in burglary hotspot areas, especially during peak times (e.g. evenings and early mornings).

Work with local residents and Neighbourhood Watch groups to promote crime prevention advice, including securing homes, installing CCTV, and reporting suspicious activity.

Deliver burglary prevention leaflets and host pop-up crime prevention stalls at community hubs.

Identify and monitor known offenders and work with partners to disrupt criminal activity.

Collaborate with local housing associations and council teams to improve environmental design and security in vulnerable areas.
