Purley & Woodcote Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

VIOLENCE AGAINST THE PERSON Violence against the person, patrol the ASB / ROBBERY hotspots to detect and disrupt criminal behaviour, reassure public and create a visible presence. Issued 24 September 2026	Purley experienced a significant increase in criminal activity including violent offences, drug possession and supply this was noted both from commentary from commentary from officers and also via our intel systems. Most notably, 15 robberies recorded within three weeks during June / July. Op Keppbach was set up to disrupt and deter this activity. During the course of August, a large number of interventions took place such as arrests of suspects of robbery, ASB warnings issued, engagement with parents and carers, vulnerable children taken home, High Risk and Medium Risk mispers located and returned home, briefings and joint patrols with Croydon Council Park Guards. During August, there was only 1 reported robbery. Actioned 04 September 2026
BURGLARY Marked & Unmarked Police patrols in Burglary hotspots to create a visible police presences to disrupt burglaries, and unmarked to detect crimes. Issued 24 September 2026	The team have been utilising local knowledge and intelligence to proactively patrol utilising overt and covert tactics. Further, crime prevention advice will be provided to residents around securing their properties as we move in to the Autumn / Winter Actioned 04 September 2026

Working with stores and security, planned operations will take place in order to catch shoplifters in the act and deal with them thorough the judicial process. Actioned 04 September 2026
MOTOR CRIME Reducing motor vehicle crime remains a ward priority. Officers will conduct targeted patrols in hotspot areas, work with partners to identify offenders, and provide crime prevention advice to help residents better protect their vehicles and belongings Issued 20 September 2026	The team have conducted targeted patrols in identified locations and engaged with residents to provide security advice, and worked with partner agencies to identify and disrupt offenders. Intelligence-led activity and increased visibility have also been used to deter offending and reassure the community. Actioned 24 September 2026
