Highgate - Haringey Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

To contact to your team about local policing issues, email us at Highgate-Haringey@contact.metengage.co.uk or pick an officer to email below. (Please do not use this contact method to report crime, in an emergency always call 999 or you can report crime online at www.met.police.uk or dial 101).

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Priority Action taken

Violence Related Priority - Although not currently an issue on the Highgate ward, Violence and VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) is an MPS priority.

Issued 08 July 2025

Neighbourhood Policing Team to conduct both high visibility and plain clothes patrols in the Highgate area. This will provide the local residents with reassurance, visibility and allow them to interact with Police around crime prevention and any local recurring issues that we are not aware of.

Actioned 19 August 2025

Residential Burglary - Operation Frained - Highgate is known for high value properties and vehicles and as such becomes a target for burglaries. The areas of note are around the Highgate Underground Station end of Archway Road.

Issued 08 July 2025

Operation Frained is giving officers extra time, funding and resources to increase high visibility, plain clothes and reassurance patrols within these areas.

Actioned 19 August 2025

Shoplifting/Theft - Highgate has seen an increase in shoplifting around Archway Rd and Highgate High St. Offenders are typically targeting high st chains such as Tescos, Sainsburys and Co-Op. However smaller independent retailers have also been targeted.

Issued 08 July 2025

High visibility and plain clothes patrols within these locations, to identify and apprehend prolific offenders, whilst looking to progress these offences by obtaining Criminal Behaviour Orders against those involved. We will work closely with the retailer to develop ways of tackling the shoplifting issue, whilst also providing valuable crime prevention advice.

Actioned 19 August 2025

The word cloud below represents the issues raised by residents through their Local Matters survey. We take this into consideration along with discussions with stakeholders, ward panel meetings and conversations with the public when setting our key priorities
