Clerkenwell Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Engagement with Sainsbury's Store manager, as there have been a number of shoplifting thefts in the stores on Clerkenwell Ward. Targeted patrols in the location and enforcement where required. Planned shoplifting operation with police and store detectives to reduce thefts and identify prolific/ wanted offenders. Issued 20 January 2026	Police have arranged to do to a shoplifting operation with the store detectives at the beginning of March. Actioned 14 April 2026
St Helena St, London WC1X - Reports of drug misuse and dealing of controlled drugs in this area. Issued 20 January 2026	Police will actively be patrolling and targeting this area, with a mix of uniform and plain clothes patrol, in order to proactively target those dealing controlled drugs in the area.
