Reports of rough sleeping, drug use, littering and associated anti-social behaviour within Canonbury Gardens and New River Walk have been noted and had a negative impact on the local community. Increased public concern and reduced confidence in using the area have identified the need for a coordinated problem-solving and partnership approach.

Conduct high-visibility patrols within the area to deter anti-social behaviour, provide reassurance to residents, and identify vulnerable individuals who may require support. Work in partnership with local agencies to address rough sleeping, littering and drug-related activity through engagement, safeguarding and proportionate enforcement measures. Where support is offered but concerns persist, Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices will be considered and utilised where appropriate to prevent further anti-social behaviour and reduce community harm.

Drug-related anti-social behaviour linked to 101C Rotherfield Street has resulted in the property being made subject of a Full Closure Order. Targeted engagement and proactive patrols will be conducted in and around Essex Road to deter and disrupt drug-related activity and associated ASB. High-visibility patrols and regular area sweeps will be carried out to provide reassurance to the community, prevent offending, and identify emerging issues.

Conduct high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot locations based on current intelligence to deter offending, disrupt anti-social behaviour, and provide reassurance to the community. Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including Community Safety Officers and Park Guard, to maximise visibility and extend patrol coverage across the area. Utilise the Early Intervention Scheme to identify those responsible for anti-social behaviour and provide opportunities for engagement, support and diversion where appropriate. Where behaviour persists, consideration will be given to the use of Community Protection Warnings and Notices, alongside other available enforcement powers, to prevent further offending and reduce harm to the local community. Regular checks will also be undertaken at 101C Rotherfield Street to ensure compliance with the Closure Order and prevent any unauthorised attempts to gain access to the premises.

High-visibility patrols to be conducted within the locality to provide reassurance to residents, deter anti-social behaviour, and identify any emerging issues. Joint working will continue with Local Authority Community Safety Officers to coordinate an effective partnership response and facilitate access to appropriate support and diversionary services for individuals involved in, or at risk of, causing ASB. Consideration will be given to the use of formal ASB powers and enforcement measures against persistent offenders to reduce the impact of their behaviour on the wider community and improve community safety.
