Hampstead Town

Welcome to Met Engage,

We're transforming the Met to become a service that truly delivers for you.

Through our new platform Met Engage you can get to know your local officers, help shape how we police your local area and have direct access to key information and advice.

This isn't just a platform for us to tell you what we're doing in your area, it's an opportunity for you to tell us what's concerning you most so we can take action on the things that truly matter to you.

Hampstead Town Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

To contact to your team about local policing issues, email us at HampsteadTown@contact.metengage.co.uk or pick an officer to email below. (Please do not use this contact method to report crime, in an emergency always call 999 or you can report crime online at www.met.police.uk or dial 101).

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Priority Action taken

Theft from and Theft of motor vehicle.

Issued 01 March 2026

High visibility patrols. Look to work with partner teams to identify offenders from ongoing investigations.
Property marking events and crime prevention advice regarding vehicle safety.

Actioned 01 May 2026

Retail Theft

Work to address the increase in shoplifting offences in Hampstead Town

Issued 01 March 2026

SNT Officers have facilitated a community group to better share intelligence and crime prevention advice.
OP DAIM was launched by the SNT to specifically target the arrest of prolific offenders. This has resulted in a number of arrests, most notably two prolific offenders have received custodial sentences.

Actioned 01 May 2026

Public Space safety

The SNT will focus on increasing high-visibility patrols across key locations within the ward to provide reassurance to the community, deter crime and ASB, and build stronger engagement with residents and local businesses.

Issued 01 March 2026

Officers have conducted regular foot patrols at peak times, attended community events, and responded to local concerns raised through the ward panel.
The team have been hosting regular 'Cuppa with a Copper' sessions, ensuring that these are advertised on this section of the Met website.

We have achieved this by proactively managing our time — blocking out our roster to ensure dedicated patrol periods and completing detailed work returns to account for our activity on the ward. This approach has enabled us to maintain regular high-visibility patrols, engage with residents, and provide reassurance to the community.

Since January 2025, 270 officer hours have been specifically dedicated to foot patrol within Hampstead Town

Actioned 01 May 2026

The word cloud below represents the issues raised by residents through their Local Matters survey. We take this into consideration along with discussions with stakeholders, ward panel meetings and conversations with the public when setting our key priorities
