Advice When Using Cash Machines

Dear residents,

Just a reminder to stay alert and aware of your surroundings when withdrawing cash from ATMs, particularly those located outside banks and other public areas, if possible always try and use the cash machine that is located inside the branch.

Before using an ATM, take a moment to look around and ensure you feel comfortable and safe. Be mindful of anyone standing unusually close, watching your transaction, or loitering nearby. Shield your PIN when entering it and avoid counting or displaying cash in public.

If possible:

Use ATMs located in well-lit, busy areas.

Be aware of distractions, as criminals may use conversation or other tactics to divert your attention.

Put your cash and card away immediately after your transaction.

If you notice anything suspicious, leave the area and use another ATM or return at a later time.

Report any suspicious activity to the police.

By remaining vigilant and taking a few simple precautions, you can help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.
