Belmont ward update.

We have had very little crime on Belmont ward in recent weeks that would normally be dealt with by your Safer Neighbourhood Team. This is obviously good news for our residents, and reflects the fact that Belmont is generally a low crime area. The crimes that we have seen recently though are;

Banstead Road South, 17th September, A elderly resident was the victim of a distraction theft, whereby her gold necklace was stolen by someone swopping it for a fake costume jewellery chain without the victim realising before they returned home. This happened during the day time whilst she was walking along the road and the suspect entered into a conversation with her.

Mulgrave Road, 22nd September, A resident was the victim of an attempted burglary. The victim checked their CCTV system and saw a suspect trying to open the rear door of their property during the early hours of the morning. All windows and doors were locked, and so they were unable to gain entry. This is a good reminder to make sure all windows and doors are locked before you go to bed, especially during the warm weather.

We have had a few reports from residents concerned about neighbours smoking cannabis. This has become an issue during the warmer weather as more people have their doors and windows open, making it more noticeable. If you are experiencing this type of issue please let us know. We will be able to visit and warn people that it is illegal, anti-social and they may face police action if it continues.

Hopefully the crime statistics for Belmont will remain low making the area a safe place to live.
