Local Drug dealing / Drug use Update

Here’s a quick update on drugs dealing crime in your area, please be reassured that we’re taking this seriously and are here to help.

On Thursday 30th July 2026, officers were on patrol around the Bellingham estate when they came across a male on Firhill Road who is a known drug user and is suspected to deal drugs in the local area. The male was wanted by the court for failing to appear for his hearings in relation to possessing crack cocaine and heroin, and was arrested. During the post-arrest search, three wraps of suspected Class A drugs were found on the male; he stated that he was going to smoke it and admitted on scene that it was crack cocaine. A test of the substance in custody confirmed that it was in fact crack cocaine. The male was also arrested for possessing crack cocaine. The male was charged and remanded to appear at court this morning, where he admitted the possession offence. In the end, the male received a fine in excess of £300. Your local team are dedicated to tackling the drug issues in the community, and to bring offenders to justice as quickly as possible. If you see any suspicious activity, please get in touch with us as we will certainly focus our attention on any emerging hotspot areas that we may not be aware of yet. Drug dealing is often linked with violent crime and the exploitation of vulnerable people, and discarded drug equipment can be a health risk and counts as antisocial behaviour.  

We’ve put hundreds more officers on the frontlines of community crime-fighting teams, upping visible patrols in the right ‘hot spots’ so we can deter and catch criminals.
