I wanted to provide you an update regarding Violent crime, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Officers from St Pauls Cray and Orpington Teams responded to reports of a male in possession of a knife in Leamington Avenue, Orpington. On locating the suspect, he immediately made off on foot and officers gave chase. During the pursuit, the male discarded a large kitchen knife, which was subsequently recovered. Following a prolonged foot pursuit, The male was detained and arrested for being in possession of a bladed article. The arrest removed a prolific offender with a significant criminal history from the streets, preventing the potential for serious harm to the public.
