🔴 KNIFE CRIME, FEAR & REALITY – WHY SPEAKING UP SAVES LIVES 🔴

🔴 KNIFE CRIME, FEAR & REALITY – WHY SPEAKING UP SAVES LIVES 🔴

Knife crime thrives on fear and silence.
Fear of being targeted. Fear of being labelled a “snitch”. Fear of retaliation. Fear of being confronted by someone carrying or claiming to carry a knife.

These fears are real — and they are exactly what allows harm to continue.

Stopping knife crime is not about bravado or confrontation.
It is about awareness, early action, and protecting life — including your own.

😟 ACKNOWLEDGING FEAR – YOU ARE NOT WRONG TO FEEL IT

Many people tell us:

These feelings are understandable.

But here is the hard truth:

Silence does not keep you safe – prevention does.

Fear-driven silence often leads to:

Early reporting reduces risk — it does not increase it.

❌ THE “GRASS / SNITCH” MYTH – AND WHY IT CAUSES MORE HARM

❌ “If I speak up, I’m a grass.”

✅ Reality: That label exists to protect violence, not people.

Choosing to stay silent:

✅ Speaking up is:

Real strength is preventing harm — not watching it happen.

👀 TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS – CONCERNS ARE ENOUGH

You do not need evidence. You do not need certainty.

Trust your instincts if you notice:

If it doesn’t feel right — act early.

🚨 HOW TO REPORT – SAFELY AND CONFIDENTLY

If you see, hear about, know of, or suspect knife crime:

👉 Reporting does not mean automatic enforcement.
It often means safeguarding, prevention and disruption before someone is hurt.

🔪 WHAT TO DO IF CONFRONTED OR ROBBED AT KNIFE‑POINT

Your life is always more important than property.

If threatened or approached:

Knife‑point robberies are traumatic. Support is available — you do not need to cope alone.

🛡️ PREVENTION & PERSONAL SAFETY TIPS

Small steps reduce risk:

🔐 PROTECTING YOUR BELONGINGS – REDUCING OPPORTUNITY

Criminals often target items that are easy to steal and sell.

You can reduce risk by:

Protected property is less attractive and easier to recover.

🗑️ SAFE KNIFE DISPOSAL – NO QUESTIONS ASKED

If someone is holding a knife and wants to do the right thing, knives can be disposed of safely and legally via knife bins.

🔹 Find your nearest knife bin:
