Angel Public House licensing review - asking for your input |
||
|
Dear resident,
As some residents may already be aware, the Roehampton Safer Neighbourhood Team have been involved in a long-term effort to resolve issues of anti-social behaviour relating to the Angel Public House on Roehampton High Street since the Spring of 2025. In October 2025, police executed a search warrant at the premises which has triggered an investigation by the MPS South West Licensing Team into the management and practises of the pub. This has now triggered a licensing review.
A licensing review is triggered where there are concerns about the premises operator's ability to promote statutory licensing objectives. Police have brought about a review citing serious concerns about the management and operation of the premises.
So what does this mean? Following review of the case material and all relevant representations, the Licensing Subcommittee will decide on what, if any, appropriate action must be taken in the case. This includes but is not limited to addition of license conditions, revoking the license and/or change of management.
We are asking residents and businesses to share their views on the Angel Public House and make representation to the Licensing Authority. Representations must be made in writing and detail the impact of the venue in the following categories:
- Prevention of crime and disorder (for example drug-related problems, disorder, drunkenness and anti-social behaviour),
The licensing review has a consultation period of 28 days during which residents and businesses can make representations for or against it. I have sent the attached to you along with the below link in case you wish to make such a representation and in the hope that you could pass this on to other interested parties locally.
Any person who wishes to make a representation in relation to this application must give notice in writing to:
By Post: Wandsworth Licensing Authority, Regulatory Services Partnership (Serving Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth Councils), Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 SDX By Email: licensing@merton.gov.uk
The closing date for this consultation is 21/02/2026. You can find out more on Wandsworth Borough Council’s website:
