OPERATION CUBA

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding dangerous driving and speeding, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

This Operation consisted of several NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING TEAMS/ TOWN CENTRE TEAMS coming together regarding illegal e-bikes on the streets of local areas in Maryland/Stratford. These e-bikes involved were speeding up to 29-30 KPH which is the equivalent speed of a moped. This led to several e-bikes being confiscated due to this illegal speeding and put into local Police pound. All Officers on Police bicycles detained those subjects on e-bikes trying to make off!! MOPEDS without TAX/INSURANCE were also stopped and taken to pound.

If someone is driving a motor vehicle, they should always be doing so in a safe and considerate manner. Even momentary lapses in judgement can have life changing or devastating consequences for those in the vehicle or innocent bystanders.
