Bonfire Night (5th November) is a time for fun, fireworks, and community celebration — but it’s also important to stay safe. Please follow these safety tips to ensure everyone enjoys the night responsibly.
🎇 Firework Safety
· Only buy fireworks marked with the CE or UKCA safety mark.
· Follow the instructions carefully before lighting any fireworks.
· Keep fireworks in a closed box and only take them out one at a time.
· Never go back to a lit firework — even if it looks like it hasn’t gone off.
· Keep spectators at a safe distance — at least 25 metres for large fireworks.
· Keep pets indoors – loud noises can cause distress.
🔥 Bonfire Safety
· Build bonfires well away from houses, sheds, fences, trees, and parked cars.
· Use only dry materials such as untreated wood – never use petrol, paraffin, or aerosols.
· Check for animals like hedgehogs before lighting your bonfire.
· Keep a bucket of water or sand nearby in case of emergency.
· Never leave a bonfire unattended and make sure it’s completely out before leaving or going to bed.
🚑 General Safety
· Be considerate of neighbours, especially those with pets or young children.
📞 In an Emergency
· Call 999 immediately and ask for the Fire Service or Ambulance as needed.
· Do not take risks – move to a safe place and wait for emergency services.
Stay safe, have fun, and enjoy Bonfire Night responsibly! 🎆
