Broken Window Effect. |
||
|
The Broken Window Effect is a theory in criminology and social behaviour which suggests that visible signs of disorder or neglect—like broken windows, graffiti, or litter—can lead to more serious crimes and further neglect.
We urge residents to get in contact with Camden Council and your local policing team, highlighting any area's on the ward which are currently attracting anti-social behaviour and could be improved - the first point of contact would be the Love Clean Streets app - https://lovecleanstreets.info/ this goes through to Camden Council, however you can always contact our team, via Met Engage, to follow this up.
It is extremely important that we work together to make this a safer, cleaner community, and we can only do this with your help.
Of note - the pedestrian walk way between Chalton Street and Oakley Square has a covered over area under the Mayford Estate which was overgrown, and attracting attention from drug users and drug dealers - this was reported to the council by the police and has since been cleared (please see the images below).
The team will continue to patrol these area's with the community safety enforcement officers, but if you see anything which needs to be reported to police please contact us …..
If a crime is taking place now then call 999 for an emergency or 101 for a non-emergency. You can also report crime on the Met Police website www.met.police.co.uk If you want to contact the safer neighbourhood team you can message us via Met Engage - www.metengage.co.uk You can also contact us via our email sntek-st.pancras&somerstown@met.police.uk … Be aware that this inbox is not monitored 24/7 and an officer will respond when the team is next on duty. We rely on information from members of the public – if you have any information regarding criminal activity then please do not hesitate to contact us. This can be given anonymously to us or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 Giving information anonymously | Crimestoppers (crimestoppers-uk.org)
