Theft of Disabled badges

In the last couple of weeks there have been several Thefts from motor vehicles in your neighbourhood. These have particularly targeted Disabled Badges on display.

Please stay vigilant and follow the crime prevention advice below.

1) Always ensure you lock your vehicle, even if you only intend to be away from it for a short period.

2) Fully close all windows and the sunroof to prevent ‘fishing’.

3) Do not leave any personal belongings on show within the vehicle, especially valuables.

4) If you have to display a disabled badge, purchase a metal security holder and cable that attaches to the steering wheel. This will act as a significant deterrent to thieves.

5) Hide any clues that electrical items may be in the vehicle, such as cables, suction cups or Sat Nav mounts.

6) If parked overnight, do not leave tools and expensive equipment in the vehicle.

7) If possible, park your vehicle in well-lit or busy areas or under CCTV coverage. Especially when parking overnight.
