Back to school robbery plans |
||
The safety of our community is our highest priority. Local police are taking proactive steps to reduce the risk of robbery and ensure everyone feels safe while travelling and enjoying public spaces. When the schools return in September there have historically been increases in robbery offences.
Increased Police Presence during the return to school period
You can expect to see more uniformed and plain-clothed officers across the transport network and in open spaces.
Officers will be conducting regular patrols at key locations, particularly during peak travel times and in areas of higher footfall.
Specialist units will be on hand to provide reassurance, deter criminal activity, and respond quickly where needed.
How You Can Help Prevent Robbery
Stay alert to your surroundings, especially when using phones or wearing headphones in public.
Keep valuables such as phones, wallets, and jewellery out of sight where possible.
If travelling late at night, try to remain in well-lit and busier areas.
Report any suspicious behaviour to police or transport staff immediately.
If You Are a Victim
Call police as soon as possible on 999 in an emergency, or 101 for non-emergencies.
If on public transport, alert staff or use emergency communication points.
Your vigilance, combined with increased police patrols, will help us make our streets and transport network safer for everyone.
Together, we can prevent crime and protect our community.
