Local Priorities Cycle Theft Update

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding cycle theft, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

On the 18th July 2025, an off duty Police Community Support Officer, whilst travelling into Stoke Newington Police Station, recognised a male, aged 40 years, of no Fixed Abode, who was Wanted on Recall to Prison.

He had breached his suspended sentence and was also in breach of his Criminal Behaviour Order. The PCSO was able to call for assistance where the male was detained and arrested swiftly by police officer colleagues.

The male was known to be a prolific offender in relation to Theft including pedal cycles and from shops in Hackney.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.
