Local Priorities Shoplifting Message

I wanted to provide you an update regarding Shoplifting, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Resident’s across Harrow regularly raise their concerns around drug use, anti-social behaviour, shoplifting and burglary.
On Saturday the 2nd of August 2025 officers representing Hatch End and Harrow Weald wards conducted proactive patrols across hotspots and hides. Following the morning briefing back at the Station and having only been on patrol for a short time, officers spied a well known male responsible for the aforementioned offences. The male was evasive attempting to avoid questioning by Police around his presence in the area. Police indices were utilised and it shortly became apparent that the individual was wanted by Police in relation to thefts in the area. An arrest of the male was quickly executed. Further patrols were conducted and three males were detained for acting suspiciously. All were well known for shoplifting and associated thefts. On this occasion no offences were apparent however, a strong Police presence ensured those wishing to engage in criminality were having second thoughts. Please stop and say hello to the team if you see them when out and about.

Shoplifting is a crime that can have a substantial negative impact on local businesses across London. If you notice anything suspicious or witness anyone shoplifting, please report it as soon as possible. These reports are invaluable in letting us build a picture of when and where shop lifters operate, meaning we can be in the right place at the right time to arrest those responsible.
