Violence against women and girls concern update: Wanstead Flats

I wanted to provide an update regarding Violence against women and girls, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

We are aware of concerns raised on social media platforms regarding a sexual assault on Wanstead Flats in July. We would like to reassure the public that this incident is under investigation and that there is no indication of a wider risk to the public. We are aware of rumoured unreported incidents and would encourage any victim of a sexual offence to come forward or to provide information anonymously via Crimestoppers. Any victim taking the brave step of reporting an incident will be supported by specialist officers.
Safer Neighbourhood officers will be conducing additional re-assurance patrols in the area.
