Theft From Motor Vehicles - Crime Prevention advice

Dear residents.

We are seeing a rise in thefts FROM a motor vehicle. The reports maintain that the vehicle was locked at the time, now while this will mostly be true, we remind everyone to check their vehicles are locked every time they park.

In some cases though, the resident is adamant it was locked.

Criminals use many methods to get into cars including scanning for a locking signal and remotely unlocking your car. This happens when keys are left near the front door so their signal can be cloned.

To prevent this, you can keep them further away from the front door or in a ‘faraday pouch’. This can be purchased online at all good stores.

Most thieves are after small items left in plain view, but some have stolen blue badges left in vehicles.

Hope this helps all residents keep their belongings safe!
