Local Priorities Drug dealing/ drug use Update

I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

As a part of our continued efforts to tackle drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour, officers from Grove Green SNT conducted Drugs Dog Operation at Leyton and Leytonstone Underground Stations, as well as nearby bus hubs.
During the operation over 34 stop and searches were carried out with 12 of those were found in possession of drugs, one person was arrested for possession of Class A drug, several individuals were issued ASB and community resolutions for minor drug offences.
Specialist drugs detection dogs were used to support the operation, helping to identify individuals carrying illegal substances. These targeted patrols are part of a wider commitment to ensuring public transport areas remain safe and free from criminal activity.
The operation also responded directly to community concerns raised about drug use and anti-social behaviour in the area. Officers will continue to carry out similar operations in the future to reassure residents and deter crimes.

We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever we find it. We will keep you updated on our efforts to do this in your area, but if you have any concerns or evidence, it is important you report this as soon as possible.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org

We are working on our brand-new strategy for how we police London and we want your help. Our New Met for London: Phase 2 strategy will guide how we deliver on behalf of Londoners over the next three years, and we want to make sure you have had the chance to have your say. The consultation paper is available online, as well as a survey to let us know what you think. This closes on the 15 September.
