Local Priorities Drug dealing/ drug use Update

I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Hi All,
Hope all is well.

The team have been patrolling the ward today, again, focusing on the ongoing drugs issue (and the drug users ASB). It seems that the team have been doing well at deterring this behaviour and is also thanks to the information given to the team by yourselves and by the reports made. Chaucer and other proactive teams around the borough of Southwark have been working on identifying dealers in the area and cracking down on getting them arrested and taking them off the streets. We have been able to ID and track a dealer from the Meakin Estate and surrounding areas and now know who they are. There was a recent arrest of this individual which has been a really successful result. This arrest was not in the area but we know it was a drug dealer that had links to the ward.

As we step into the new month of August, I just wanted to remind everyone about the ward panel that will be taking place in September. You can find all the details in the calendar section of the website. Hopefully, in due course there will be more 'Meet The Police' events etc so that everyone can come along and engage with the team regarding any issues.

We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever we find it. We will keep you updated on our efforts to do this in your area, but if you have any concerns or evidence, it is important you report this as soon as possible.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org

We are working on our brand-new strategy for how we police London and we want your help. Our New Met for London: Phase 2 strategy will guide how we deliver on behalf of Londoners over the next three years, and we want to make sure you have had the chance to have your say. The consultation paper is available online, as well as a survey to let us know what you think. This closes on the 15 September.
