KINGSTON GATE ::: Local Priorities Burglary Concern Update

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding burglary, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Sadly we have to report that there have been 3 reported instances of burglary from unconnected buildings between the 21st JULY - 30th JULY.

1) Queens Rd, Rowan Court- Between 21st July 20:00hrs to 22nd July 14:30hrs- 2 bicycles were stolen from an unconnected garage that was locked. Please take this as an opportunity to visit www.immobilise.com & BikeRegister to register your bikes.

2) Cherrywood Close- Between 28th July 13:00hrs to 30th July 10:30hrs- 3 bicycles and golf clubs were stolen from an unconnected garage.

3) Shortland Rd- On 30th July at approximately 04:00hrs- a side gate was accessed and an unlocked shed had power tools stolen.
Later at 04:30hrs a tall, thin male with face coverings was seen in another garden.

Please take this moment to ensure your side gates are secure, that bins are kept away from fences and walls that could be climbed over and that sheds in gardens are locked.

There is a pattern that these incidents are taking place very early in the morning. If you can offer any information then please do get in touch.

Have you seen any vehicles driving around that seem out of place?

While we will continue to pursue burglars in the area, there are steps you can do to help keep your property safe. Make sure that you:

  • Double lock your door every time you leave the house

  • If you can, move garden furniture or bins away from windows so that thieves cannot use them to gain access.

  • Use laminated glass or security film on ground floor and accessible windows.

  • Use a sash stop if you have sash windows to prevent people opening them enough to climb through.

  • If your windows open outwards, use a key operated lock – check these are locked before leaving the house.

  • Make sure all valuables are out of sight.

  • Keep handbags and keys away from letterboxes or cat flaps.

  • In the evening shut the curtains and leave lights on.

  • Set your burglar alarm

  • Lock your  shed or garage

  • Mark, register or record your valuables.

Please go to our website to find the latest advice and guidance on keeping yourself safe.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.
