Local Priorities Personal theft (e.g. pick pocketing, no violence used) Message

I wanted to provide you an update regarding Personal theft (e.g. pick pocketing, no violence used), which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

The West End Town Centre Team B (TCT) were on a plain clothes pickpocketing operation today, due to the volumes of crowds on The Mall for the Lioness Parade, they mingled amongst the crowd and saw a known pickpocket rifling through a female victims bag who was completely unaware.

My Officers swooped in, handcuffed him and he was swiftly arrested!

The female victim was extremely thankful and appreciative of the Officers’ actions

On the TCT we use a mixture of high visibility uniformed patrols and covert plain clothes tactics to combat theft and target those committing crime in our area.
