I wanted to provide an update regarding knife crime, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

We are aware that many people may be worried about knife crime in their local communities. We are committed to tackling knife crime wherever we find it, in order to keep you safe.

If you would like to know more about the guidance that is available, our website includes a number of important resources that can offer guidance,  including what to do if you think someone you know needs helphow to keep people safe, and support organisations you can talk to.

Passing on information to organisations such as Crimestoppers or Fearless can not only help after a crime or incident, but vitally stop something from happening.

On Monday 23rd June at 1900hrs police received a call from a member of public stating that someone had been stabbed under the flyover of the A3 at Shannon Corner.

Police arrived on scene to find a 68 year old male victim with three stab wounds he was taken to St Georges Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

A 22 year old male was quickly arrested for attempted murder following an investigation. He was taken to a South London police station and has since been charged with attempted murder Contrary to section 1(1) of the Criminal Attempts Act 1981 and possession of a bladed article in a public place Contrary to section 139(1) and (6) of the Criminal Justice Act 1988. He has now been remanded in custody pending a trial.
