Parking Meter Scams

Dear Ward Members,

Please be aware of parking meter scams that are happening in the Southfields, Wimbledon Park and Wandsworth Town area.

There have been a series of offences with a similar MO. These could be by the same person or group of people. It has been reported that a suspect is approaching people while they are parking their cars and telling them that there is a new policy and that they can't pay via phone but must pay at a specific meter which they then take them to. Whilst these individuals have been distracted the suspect has taken their cards and pretended that they have been swallowed by the parking meter, they have also watched to see their PIN being input.

Do not trust someone just because they are wearing high-vis. Do not trust someone who tries to get you to pay at a specific meter and always be aware of someone looking over your shoulder when you enter your PIN into any machine.
